Research infrastructures are facilities that provide resources and services for the research communities to conduct research and foster innovation in their fields.
These include
- major equipment or sets of instruments,
- knowledge-related facilities such as collections,
- archives or scientific data infrastructures,
- computing systems,
- communication networks
Research Infrastructures can help achieve the four key strategic orientations by providing state-of-the-art services, knowledge, and tools to address societal challenges, support evidence-based policymaking, and enhance industry knowledge and technical know-how. Their use should be encouraged across all pillars of Horizon Europe.
Researchers involved in Horizon Europe activities will have access to and be able to process most of the data generated and collected by Research Infrastructures through the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) and the European Data Infrastructure (EDI).
Research Infrastructures will support the development and consolidation of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) through a dedicated Partnership. Horizon Europe will also support and promote the involvement of citizens, civil society, and end-users in public engagement, citizen science, and user-led innovation modes of research and innovation. It is important to note that citizens and end-users will be significant contributors to research and innovation outcomes.
All funding information, details about calls, and how to apply are on the Funding and Tenders portal.
Funding opportunities under Horizon Europe are set out in multiannual work programmes, which cover the large majority of support available.
